There are no holes where holes need to be. My boyfriend had to drill holes in things. If we didnt have power tools we would have been screwed. Even now the bed is crooked.
Took the gamble, turned out great and easy to assemble.
Excellent choice. If for some reason you are worried about blocking the drawers on one side of the bed, with the same tools you can fix both drawers to the contralateral ones. (Note: this is probably not how it was designed to be used, but instead of leaving them to dust over, you can have a one side -- four drawer bed crammed on one side to the wall).
Wife and I got it built in about 1? hrs. It goes a lot quicker if you use a hex bit in a drill instead of the tool they provide. Top of headboard was a little off-kilter on one corner. Decent solid construction that should hold up. We put foam pads on the feet so that it wouldn't scratch the floor.
The various parts and their fit are well-designed, however, the illustrations can be cryptic. Make sure you understand the assembly before you attempt to put the bed together.
